My toddler boys are mini alpha males. We were flying across country one time and my then 1 year old was inconsolable. There was a guy standing in the back of the plane with my husband watching my son thrash back and forth. The guy turned to my husband and said “Looks like he got an extra shot of testosterone”. I remember laughing when my husband came back to the seat with a few bumps and bruises, but this guy had figured it out. He was exactly right. I could never figure out the best way to explain it to people…until that day.
So here is my alpha male toddler one year later. He is not the easiest little guy to love. He is all about tough love. That is why I love this new baby donkey. When he is around the baby donkey he knows he is not in charge. He can not boss her around, like he tries to do with me everyday. He has to submit a little (something he hates) and he had to be calm and still (which NEVER happens). He is just scared enough to let his soft side come out. I have always known there is a soft side underneath all his tough layers, we just don’t see it very much. Maybe all alpha male toddlers and men just need a donkey around to let them know who is boss. Sounds like a good plan to me.
