Pulsatilla is my favorite homeopathic remedy for colds and congestion.  About 4 years ago I was looking into natural healing with my first son.  He had colic as a little newborn and we did not have the most pleasant breastfeeding experience.  I stuck it out, but that is how I first learned about homeopathy.  I was researching all sorts of things and I would stumble upon one article after another about how it helped with certain conditions.  My son tended to get sick a lot and natural remedies always appealed to me more than allopathic.  So I gave it a try.

The very first book I ordered was off of amazon and it is titled, “Homeopathic Medicine for Children and Infants” by Dana Ullman.  This book changed my life and my then 8 month old son.  This book is great for beginners because it goes through details of what remedies work for which children and what childhood illnesses (personalities can make little differences).  The first remedy I gave him was pulsatilla 30C.  He kept getting recurring colds, one after the next.  The book states that this remedy is the common remedy for the child that gets chronic colds.  Typically there is a thick yellow or greenish discharge.  They are moody and weep easily.  This was so my son!   I went to the health food store and picked up the Boiron Pulsatilla 30 C.  I administered the pellets 3 times a day, and within a few days he was better.  The real difference was that he stopped having recurrent colds.  They were further and further apart, until there would be months in between them and finally none at all.  Even now in his first year of pre-school, he has not had to stay home sick one day.  Now, this is not the only remedy he has had, but it was the first.  It is a great cold remedy for children.
