Today was the first day of my Bee Healthy Challenge. I am on Week 1 (7 days of Real Food). I am posting my menu for today because I think food planning and preparation is the KEY to eating Real Food successfully. If there are no groceries at home and no time to cook, convenience always beats nutrition! That is not going to happen this week for my family.
Today my focus was pretty good. It is the first day though so I guess that is normal. My mind was really set on my goal… which is eating real food 100 percent of the time. I did not stress out about tomorrow’s meal, just focused on today. I really tried to keep my emotions in check. My days are pretty uneventful usually. But sometimes I get bad news or have a disagreement in the middle of the day and that is when I head straight to the food (usually bad food). Who likes to eat an apple when they are down? Not Me!! So I really kept my stressors to a minimum, which means ignoring my 2-year-olds tantrums. Not too easy for me. It is not easy to eat Real Food 100 percent of the time (no exceptions). Before this challenge I was eating real food about 85 percent of the time. No matter what level you are at, keep trying. You can make the decision to change your diet. Just like me. I just decided one day. The first week is usually the hardest too.
Here is the My Meal Plan for Day 1. Who says Real Food has to taste bad and be boring?? Quite the opposite. My food tasted great! I like to keep things Simple and Tasty.
Breakfast: Oatmeal and Blueberries.
Lunch: Grilled Cheese on Fresh Millet Bread (less than 5 ingredients)/ 1 slice cheddar cheese. 1 Apple.
Dessert: 1 Bowl of Chocolate Ice Cream (less than 5 ingredients)
I feel good about today. I drank a lot of water too. Hydration is very important. Get ready for leftovers when you are eating real food. I will be incorporating leftovers in new meals the next day. On to Day 2 of Real Food!
