Yellow Rice and Chicken

I was making one recipe and it turned into another.  After tasting the end result- I was like WOW this tastes exactly like yellow rice (you know the little packets in the grocery store loaded with MSG).  At least what I remember yellow rice tastes like.  I live in Florida and we have amazing cuban food all around.  Yellow rice is a staple.  Today is [...]

Real Food (Day 1)

Today was the first day of my Bee Healthy Challenge.  I am on Week 1 (7 days of Real Food).  I am posting my menu for today because I think food planning and preparation is the KEY to eating Real Food successfully.  If there are no groceries at home and no time to cook, convenience always beats nutrition! That is not going to happen this [...]

Oatmeal (soaked overnight)

I never liked oatmeal growing up.  The texture really bothered me.  It wasn't until after my first son came along that I started eating oatmeal.  My milk supply was low and I needed to include more lactogenic foods in my diet.  Boy does oatmeal work! My milk supply increased almost immediately.  As long as I was eating oatmeal, my son was very happy. Now that [...]

Homemade Chocolate Syrup (for chocolate milk)

My boys love chocolate milk.  So do I!  I have been using an organic chocolate syrup for awhile.  It has less sugar and no HFCS.  It is just the right sweetness.  I stumbled on this great chocolate syrup recipe and wanted to give it a try.  This is much less expensive than our organic brand.  I think you will like it as much as we [...]
