Cooking a whole chicken in the crock pot is very convenient. I love my baked chicken recipe. The flavors are incredible. This is a great alternative way to cooking a whole chicken. You will end up with perfect shredded chicken.
1 whole chicken (remove giblets)
1 Tbsp oil (grape seed, sunflower)
1-2 tsp sea salt
1-2 tsp garlic powder
1-2 tsp black pepper
(any other herbs to you prefer)
Cut up onion and place in the bottom of the crock pot. Take the whole chicken and rinse with warm water. Remove giblets etc. Rub oil all over the top of the chicken and around the sides. Now add salt, garlic powder, pepper, and any other spices. Place chicken on top of the onions. Do not add any liquid. Put lid over the crock pot. Turn to high heat and cook for 4-5 hours (3-4 lb chicken) or until the meat is falling off the bone.
Use the leftover chicken bones to make homemade chicken broth. Great broth used for soups and stews.
